The Youth Peacemaker will conduct a needs assessment with the youth facing barriers (in collaboration their family) to formulate a youth wellness plan. This plan is created from the youth’s perspective of what they need in their lives in order to engage in positive activities while building healthy boundaries and relationships.

What is a Youth Peacemaker?

A Youth Peacemaker helps the youth voice what services or supports they require in order to mitigate identified barriers. The Peacemaker uses a non-judgemental and empathetic approach when assisting the youth and their family to engage in positive changes.

What does a Peacemaker do?

  • Connect youth and family to appropriate community resources through information and supported referrals.
  • Connect with community agencies and service providers to ensure current knowledge of services for youth and families.
  • Share information about educational, health and wellness, community programs and services offered in the community.
  • One-to-one meetings with the youth to create the Youth Wellness Plan in conjunction with their parents/guardians, as needed
  • Facilitate family and community support circles to compliment the youth’s wellness plan.
